Risa is well known throughout the Carolinas and beyond for her expertise in areas ranging from palliative care and hospice care, advance care planning, clinical ethics and staff and caregiver self-care. Throughout her career, Risa has been driven by an understanding of the importance of clinical staff education and support as a means to excellent bedside care.

Angela Lewis Myers (They/Them)

Angela Lewis-Myers is a dedicated social worker specializing in healthcare quality, with a particular focus on dignity and advocacy for patients at the end of life. Currently, Angela works at Cone Health, where they play a crucial role in supporting patients through care planning and normalizing open communication about end-of-life concerns. Angela is also an educator and trainer, serving as adjunct faculty at Western Carolina University

Before joining Cone Health, Angela was part of the Triad Health Network, where they contributed significantly to the healthcare community in Greensboro, North Carolina. Their work often involves collaborating with local agencies to provide comprehensive support for patients dealing with death, dying, and grief. Angela's commitment to their field is evident in their efforts to advocate for aging LGBTQIA+ individuals, ensuring they receive the respect and care they deserve.

Angela's contributions to social work have been recognized by the National Association of Social Workers North Carolina Chapter, where they were named Member of the Week. Their dedication to patient advocacy and education highlights their passion for improving healthcare quality and supporting vulnerable populations. Angela continues to make a positive impact in their community through their work at Cone Health and their involvement in various educational and advocacy initiatives.
